Introducing the Sirongo Farm Digest: Practical Farming News Every Friday

Farming decisions are only as good as the information behind them. When to plant, what to plant, where to sell and at what price: get these right and the same piece of land earns far more. Get them wrong and even a good harvest can lose money.

That is why we started the Sirongo Farm Digest, a free weekly newsletter for farmers, farmer groups and agribusiness people across Africa. It lands every Friday and is written to be read in five minutes.

What you get in every issue

  • Market prices: what produce and fish are selling for, where prices are heading, and what that means for your next planting.
  • Farming tips: one practical technique you can use on your farm this week, from soil care to pest control to post-harvest handling.
  • AgriTech made simple: tools like soil testing and crop monitoring explained in plain language, including what they cost and whether they are worth it for a farm your size.
  • Money and chamas: short lessons on farm records, budgeting a season, saving for inputs and understanding credit before you borrow.
  • Farmer stories: what is working for other farmers and groups, in their own words.
  • Weather and season alerts: reminders that help you plan ahead instead of reacting late.

Who it is for

The Digest is for smallholder farmers, commercial growers, fish farmers, chama and cooperative leaders, and anyone who buys from or invests in African agriculture. If you make decisions about a farm, it is for you.

How to subscribe

Subscribing is free. Head to our Newsletter page, leave your name, email and country, and tell us what you farm so we can make the Digest more useful to you.
